Decorative Pillows As Easy Beautiful Accents Pieces
Decorative pillows, or throw pillows, are standard element of any room décor. But do you know they have the capacity to change the look of the room? Yes, when used imaginatively throw pillows have the versatility and ease to add jazz to the room in a jiffy.
Decorative pillows are a small but quite an important part of your living room décor. To use pillows as a style element, use them to tie together the whole look of your living room which could be – modern, classy, traditional, opulent, casual(loungy). You can play with colour, pattern, material, texture, shape of the pillows to achieve the look you want.
While choosing the colours of pillows, remember to draw inspiration from the hues in the room. It is important to pull together the different colours across your sofa, curtains, rug/carpet and also the artwork present. You could you use the cushions to highlight one colour to bring an instant atmosphere to the room. For examples, by adding orange pillows to a white sofa when you have curtains in similar orange shades you would be unifying the colours in the room, while giving the room a cheery atmosphere.
Designs and texture are key to give the room its ambience. For a casual, simple effect, choose pillows with simple designs or solid colours. Colourful, quirky designs give a funky look. Materials like silk and velvet give an opulent ambience while things like linen look formal and elegant. Mix and match textures to achieve an eclectic look.
What about number of cushions? Well, you could have just one highlight piece or have multiple pillows on your sofa. Multiple pillows can be used to create a dramatic effect by choosing contrasting colours and design. For example, combine a busy floral print with a solid colour to add colour and liveliness
Pillows are available in different shapes – usual squares, rectangular or even circular. In general, mix the shapes, but keep similar sized pillows. Standard size pillows are usually 16” while oversize pillows are 24”. Choose sizes so that they don’t overwhelm the furniture.
Remember to arrange the pillows to reflect the mood you want to create. Formal placement would have two or four pillows placed at opposite ends of sofa. Casually arranged pillows result in an inviting and comfortable air.
Apart from living room, you can use pillows even in outdoor spots like your patio or garden chairs to liven up while achieving a continuation on your décor theme.

Design Beautiful Wooden House In The Czech Republic Invites Nature And Society
The most wonderful thing about being in this wooden house is the parallel between indoors and out. Designed by architectural firm Sporadical, this contemporary nature-inspired house is nestled amid trees and earth in Czech Republic’s Central Bohemia. The house – a reflection of its environment – is built on a wooden frame and boasts a wood facade, artfully interrupted by large spans of glass that allow for views of the outdoors at every angle. Of the home’s three storeys, each embraces the environment in its own way. An open-concept main floor features soft, honey-toned wood, while the large gallery-style windows invite views of the forest beyond, boasting natural wooden frames that are evocative of trees themselves. Interiors are flooded in natural daylight.
